In this lesson, we were challenged with taking pictures which broke photography "rules" that could be considered "wrong". This challenge was inspired by famous photographer: John Baldessari. He had a unique style in taking pictures and aimed to create bizarre photographs which by many were considered "wrong" by the "rules" of photography. This technique gave him lots of recognition as he was so different to every other current photographer, and his unusual style became much more popular.
We learnt about John Baldessari through this Youtube video:
During the lesson we also annotated a photograph of his named "WRONG" and described what we believed could be considered "wrong" about it,
After learning more about John and his work, we attempted to create our own "wrong" pictures. To create these pictures, we had to consider what were the "rules" of photography, and how we could break them by taking pictures you could categorise as "wrong". Some of the "rules" we used were: -Make sure the subject is in focus. -Point your camera at the subject. -Avoid having to much going on in the picture. -Make your photographs clear and high quality. -Have a good, interesting composition. -Include appropriate camera angles.
To attempt to "break" these "rules", we had to be creative and daring in our angles and decisions for each photograph in order to make it as unusual and unique as possible, to fit the criteria of the challenge. These were my photos:
My personal evaluation:
WWW: -I used a variety of different camera angles. -I attempted to "break" multiple different "rules". -I produced a few unique photographs.
EBI: -I was more daring with my pictures. -I explored more techniques. -I included a larger variety in colour.
